If you have been to Sandgate Park since Saturday morning (25 November) you may have noticed signs of a bonfire and cutting back of rhododendron. The Sandgate Conservation Society volunteers have been at work!
Saturday morning was fine and frosty.
Horsham District Council asked us to continue to cut back the rhododendron encroaching the woodland, a job that was started last month. The beautiful morning encouraged a very good turnout of 17 volunteers who set to with great enthusiasm.
Some perhaps with even greater enthusiasm than the others…..
We also had a roaring bonfire……
….. which meant that it was warm enough to stop for a chat……
… but mostly it was a hive of activity!
